Why is my car shaking?

I have a Nissan Maxi. 1999 (129K miles). I just noticed this week that when I drive out of the garage, the car shakes (vibrates) both on drive and reverse. Could there be a problem with tune-ups? I have never done one before. I also started noticing that the check engine light is on also.

i have a nissan maxi sl 06 w/ 50k miles.dealership told me to get transmission,belt and brakes changed? help?

the service engine soon and brake lights come on when i start my car. the dealership people told me to change the transmission i dont know whether he said fluid? the belt and also the brakes and i m sure i need to get the brakes changed. what should i do? i am new to all this car stuff ? should i get this done as some other place beside dealership?
