how do i improve sound on my ipod shuffle?

besides the sound control which is visible(-+) is there not a way i can get maxi sound, because its too low, eg, if a car passes about 50 meters away, i wont hear a thing?

Get some better headphones - true inner ear ones will shut out a lot of surrounding noise
